Lea Reclin and the Gauntlet of Poseidon: Part 1

1- I’m No Disney Princess
You could say my vacation went wrong when I was attacked by bird ladies, but I actually didn’t mind that since I knew something like that was bound to happen. I’d say my vacation went wrong when I fell over the edge of the cruise ship.
Here, let me start at the beginning, my mom and stepdad agreed that after the war was over it was time for a break. My mom needed a vacation from her stress filled job, I needed a break from my crazy ex-demigod world and my dad, I guess he was just along for the ride. We weren’t about to leave him behind.
My mom had it all planned out, a cruise in the Caribbean on the Disney cruise ship: Disney Fantasy. I felt a bit juvenile taking a an entire vacation on a ship overrun with children and people dressed like princesses, but honestly, I was loving it. I spent a whole afternoon with Tinkerbell and watched the Aladdin live show every night for three nights straight. It was like drowning in Nostalgia. I hardly wanted to leave the ship when we reached the ports.
As we were docked, I experience the islands of the Bahamas to the fullest. We paddle boarded, went on a rainforest adventure, went snorkeling (met a few coral reef mermaids) and every other caribbean adventure you could imagine. The best part was we were only on the fourth day out of seven.
It was early thursday morning and the sun shone brightly over the deck. The plan was to go to Castaway Cay, a private disney island, but of course the plan went awry.
I was standing with a towel. flip flops and an ariel inspired bikini went everything went wrong.
I was hoping to get a few runs on the waterslide before the littluns could take it over but as I climbed the staircase I could feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.
I searched the deck looking for a threat.
All I could see was the actor who played Flynn Ryder, and I waved to him. He waved back and I nearly fell off the stairs my hard jumped so badly, that boy had to be a child of aphrodite because he was gorgeous.
Anyways, aside from the beautiful guy who there was absolutely nothing wrong with, something seemed off.
If was unbearably windy coming from all directions, my Lilo and Stitch  towel tore out of hands. flying off. I lunged for it, but it was whipped away out of sight.
“Oh come on!” I yelled at the wind, “That cost like fifteen bucks!”
As I stood atop the swirly yellow slide I began to notice how the wind switched direction, blowing against my bare back then pounding forward at my face. It grew stronger, flinging me against the railing, to which I hung on for dear life.
Like usual, the situation didn’t stop, it just got worse.
I piercing screech cut through the sky, it was a sound I recognized from hearing it at camp every night when curfew time struck.
“Harpies,” I growled through gritted teeth.
I was less worried about getting torn apart by crazy bird women and more worried about them ruining this swimsuit, my mom had it custom made and it looked it looked freaking cool.
I looked up, my eyes watering in the wind, there was three of them, all of them richly colored in tropical hues. They swooshed at me.
On clipped my on the right arm with her talon, I screamed as the scarlet hit the yellow plastic below my feet.
I didn’t know what to do, my defense disk was in my room, and I didn’t think any monsters would have the audacity to attack me while I was onboard.
As I debated what to do, the bright blue harpy dove at me, I dove to the left only to be caught by the scarlet macaw style bird woman. She squawked at me, curling her talons around my arms and carried me out over the sea.
I guess I was heavy or something because just as we had crossed over the edge of the ship and were above the sparkling sapphire ocean, she dropped me.
I screamed as I fell and was silenced with a splash as I fell through the surface.
